With all the positive talk about slammers on the boards, I picked up (6) of the 7 inch model. I have tried tuning these baits, but cant seem to get them tuned where they don't roll. If I work the bait reel slow, it has a nice wide wobble. However, when working faster while casting or trolling they roll. I like the action with a slow retrieve, but it seems like my use will be limited if I can only use with this slow speed.
Can these baits be tuned not to roll? Any help appreciated.

Slammers are a good product, but I have had similar problems. I have found that you need to slightly move the eye hook at times to the left of right depending on the way the bait is tracking. If you post a question about this on the muskieFirst board, I would bet that Bill Schwartz, the guy who makes the bait could probably help you out. He posts on MF often. Slammer cranks really shine as a twitch bait and work really easily in that regard when worked slow. Great triggering bait. Be sure to use a 7 strand leader for best results with your slammers. I like Slammers a lot but have noticed that where they place the lip is not consistent at all. When I used to buy them the only way to get a good one was to sort through the rack and find one where the lip is square to the body. Also one fish and all the clear epoxy comes off. I no longer buy them.

I have a new Slammer that has now put 12 big pike/average muskie in the boat, and the finish is perfect, just scratched. Also, baits made by ALL brands need to be tuned from time to time, just like my Suicks. because I have to tune a Suick,a Slammer, a Frenzy, a DB4--- I should be unhappy? Nope, just learn how to tune the bait, that's all.
If the finish begins to fail at 20 fish, maybe it will be time to retire the lure anyway....NOT!!
