Was out fishing for walleye and bass the other day and heard a loud humming noise. My partner and could not figure out where it was coming from. We where looking for a plane or copter of some sort. We are drifting in the middle of the lake when a swarm of angry bees come flying by. Thanks goodness, they chose to pass us by as I was ready to hit the water. In all the time I have spent fishing, I have not encountered this was curious if others have had similar experiences...Ben

Are you sure they were angry or just a swarm looking for a new home? Honey bees tend to move around at this time of year. We had a couple beekeepers in the area where I grew up and every now and then some farmer would have a swarm of bees around their building site. So, one would call around and find out who had bees in the area and then the beekeepers would come and get them. Gotta admit that it sure was enough to make a person nervous when a big swarm would pass nearby or, worse yet, set up shop in your garage.

Don't know if they like to set up shop in boats though. Better watch out just in case.:)

Got to agree with the last post.
In my younger years my dad decided to take up hobby, you guessed it
Bee Keeping.Had my share of stinging and disfiguration due to it.

In late summer, sometimes hives harvest a new Queen, the old Quenn is then kicked out.A great number of faithfulls follow the old Queen in search of a new home to rebuild.Swarming is the tendency.

Best advice ,move out of the zone and leave them alone.
They are in a bad mood and can be aggravated by any little noise.
Dont get stung

Good point Marc. They are generally very angry when they are swarming.

Whatever you do, do not throw rocks or sticks at them of they land on a tree or in your garage. I knew a dumb kid that did that once about 30 years ago.... :) Its amazing how fast a person can run when one is scared.

Good fishing. Hope everyone catches a hawg this weekend.
