I have tinkered with the metal lip on these bait many times and was just reading about bending the corners to achieve various actions. I have one bait that wobbles while floating up between pauses. Is there anyway to bend the lip to help produce this wobble on my other non-wobbling suicks? Any suggetions appreciated.

MD Musky,
Try bending each corner at a 45 degree angle for starters. You will have to experiment a little with each to get the wobble you want. I have modified or atleast tried to modify many suicks to achieve a roll or wobble on the rise and it seems not all respond unilaterally to like adjustments. Just make adjustments and observe the response until you get the action you desire. Good Luck!

Here's some info. I compiled a while back that will help you:

Thanks for the info. You wont believe this, but I headed for the river this morning because I had a couple hours to kill. I was not even planning on fishing- I just wanted to practice tuning my seven inch suicks. Well here I am, bending and casting, bending, pulling and so on and BAM!! Out of the blue 34" musky hooked and landed. I was dumbfounded. Then about thirty minutes later, another muskie (36-38")made a mad dash for the bait right at the boat, which I missed. All within a few casts. Action died about ten oclock. The article muskie kid provided states to bend the tail on one side or the other to correct a lure that veers to one side. My question is: If the lure is running too much to the right, do I bend down the right or left corner? Also, should I get it running right before bending the tail down further to attain more depth? Any help would be appreciated

Great job. It's a great day when you get more than one Tiger in a day!!! I'll let someone with more experience with Suicks respond to your question (I primarily use crankbaits and jigs). Perhaps I should be using them more!! When you get a chance, visit my forum on Tigers and leave a tip or two. Your experince (and John's) would really be an asset for others. Perhaps we will "hook up" one on these days. Thanks, Tom

look at the hook hangers if they are run to one side Bend them so they are all inline with each other they act like rutters. If you want them to go deeper move the eye hook up.Some of my weitghed ones go 8-10 feet deep.good luck fishing magnum.

One tunning trick that you need to be aware of is: MOST IMPORTANT RULE: If you have a "HAIRY" Suick, one that has wood fuzz sticking out all around, DO NOT, I repeat, do not sand it down and repaint it to make it look better, I had one that looked like that and caught fish after I (repaired) it, it took almost a year before it started working again. If it ain't broke, don't fixit!

I agree with Jay it almost seems that these lures just get better the more fish you catch on them, I dont bother tuning them it seems like once it catches a fish it tunes itself, sounds like a catch 22 as far as how do you catch them without tuning it but I usually dont toss the newer ones or ones that havent caught a fish untill the fall when they are putting on the feedbag and dont seem to care as much, or I just take them to Canada and toss them to the northern who dont seem to care what you throw at them and they do a decent job tearing them up for you.
