Guys, looking for recommendations and first hand experiences with taxidermists doing reproduction mounts. I let her go, now want a fiberglass version of her for the wall. I live in Michigan's U.P., not far from the Wisconsin borderd, but will work with a good taxidermist anywhere UPS travels. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Would highly recommend Lax Taxidermy Studio, Conover WI.
I have no affiliation with Lax, but have seen their work and it's top shelf. Look them up at www.laxreproductions.com. You can contact them through there for price/delivery info. Their not cheap, but gawd their good!...:9

I second Lax Taxidermy. They did an awesome job on a 51"er I was fortunate to catch in Lake of the Woods a few years ago.

My guiding clients have many, many mounts done by Fiber Tech Productions in Brainerd, Mn. Not one complaint about anything. Turnaround is the best I have seen or heard of.

Lax Tax. is great, but check out Joe Fittante Taxidermy in Antigo, WI. before making the big $ decison. He does/did all the work for Mepps, and his "lacquer job" appeals to me and has held up on my 20+ year old skin mounts.

I have seen some spectacular mounts that Lax has done, I am also a UPS guy and can tell you that Lax packs their stuff better than ANYONE.

I have been a muskie fiserman for twenty years but, I have only cought fish for the last 10. It's true I made it the hard way. I have been saying when I get A 50" that I was going to mount it. I starting meeting different people, ones who have released 50+ fish, and I am thinking that when I get the fish of my life now I most likly will mount a reproduction.......

The best guys anywhere are Advance Taxidermy in Toronto, and Pro-Line Taxidermy, also in Toronto. Their paint jobs make that one by Lax that they always show in the magazine ads look like something painted by a child.

I'm a fan of Artistic Anglers in Duluth. Turnaround took a while, but the mount is beautiful and I've had loads of compliments on it. I'm told the teeth are the tricky part, and they look great.

If you are ever heading through the Antigo area stop in the Refuge resturant at the corners of hwys 45 and 64. They have a wall with reproductions of all the state records from WI mounted by Joe Fittante. He does quality work and has it hanging in front of God and everyone to look at in the Refuge.

Artistic Anglers out of Duluth. Awsome work, AND if for any reason when you get your replica that you don't like it he will make a new one, no extra charge. Thats what I was told. Thats called standing behind your work.
