I want to learn more about proper fizzing procedures. Are there any sites (or WC regulars who feel confident in their abilities and willing to share their technique) that can provide some insight into this. I don't want to open a debate whether or not it's the correct thing to do or not, just want some instruction on how to do it properly if or when I choose to do it. Thanks for any replies, hope you all had a good x-mas.....

Search the archives. There is a ton of info on this subject there.
Just enter "fizzing fish" in the search directory and put a check in the box that asks if you want to search the archives. It will list out all the threads that involved the topic of fizzing fish.

If you have problems just let me know and I will email you the fizzing procedure. I'm just to lazy tonight to type it all out..;-)

lay fish on back, from anal vent count towards head 3 scales, then from there count 5 scales up eather side, insert needle between scales at a 45 degree angle. as the air exscapes masage belly to vent remaning air. this is easily done holding the fish against the wall of your live well also so you can see the air bubbles come out.

As you stated, you'll get different views on whether fizzing is a good idea or not. I have yet to talk to a biologist in this part of the walleye world who advocates it. If you're looking for a different deep-water release option, check this one out. I'd never heard of it before but plan to give it a try next summer. We had a biologist put some catch-and-release guidelines together for our website and this is his technique:
