Hi Ferd, couple of baits that do run deep which I use.
There are a few in todays bait market out there.
Hi Fin 13 inch trophy divers work well,he also makes the 9 inch version with a big lip to bring baits down also.13 inch trophy minnow will get somewhere between 18 to 24 feet.Lindy Big Ms will get down to 30 foot with about 100 feet of line out on 65 pound superbraid(The deep diver model).Although I dont see much mention on the baits,I must admit I have had good success with them. These are baits I use most often.High or low in the water column.
10 inch jakes/ernies will get between 18 to 22 feet down,Legend Plows,
Beleivers filled with foam will get you extra footage in depth.
I think slammer makes a deep diver also, not sure. There are a few different manifactures out ther making deep diving baits.
Wish master make a large one that goes deep and high quality but I am not familiar with the bait.
good luck
marc
Try a Grandma, it's the deepest crankbait I have.

The lindy big m's troll great. One bait you may want to try are mann's -20, 25 and 30. Slammers troll great to but to get an accurate depth range goto Bill Schwartz's site, he has a line out to depth chart. I troll ernies and depth raiders too. I usually don't troll so deep. Alot of line out for me is 40ft with 30 feet being the most, most of the time.

Ever notice how far the Musky's eye's sit on it's body? They feed up,alot. They must.I've trolled deep, and still do,but at times a shallow bait,in the middle of the lake has turned a strike or three for me.A Suick, and some minnow bait's have come through too.Try it.You'll like it.Hey,just like Mom say's.lol.

Hey Ferd
I use Wishmaster Big Baits. They are big witch is so important when trolling deep water. Clear or not! These baits will go beond what you are looking for. In speeds and depth. Even trolling at 1.5 mph they will stay at the depth you want them and not drift up. Can run them shallow too. I catch fish with less then 10 feet of line between the bait and the tip of my rod. And at speeds well over 5 mph.
Mark said "high quality". You better believe it! Thay are the highest quality baits you can buy, Anywhere! www.wishmasterbigbaits.com

What happens when you get a snag 25 feet down with a
$300 dollar bait though?
I think I would buy 25 10" inch jakes instead.

If I were trolling a $300 lure at 25 ft, the bottom (and snags) would have to be at least twice that depth.....:+

Hey Guys
Like in the past I will say again, not everyone will run out and by a Wishmaster! I spend countless hours trolling the waters of Georgian Bay in serch of that magic 70 pounder! In my opinion (and the opinion of many others) there is no better bait for the job. And when you know what you are doing snags are not an issue.
A few years down the road when you have smashed the working snot out of those 25 Jakes. And you are on your way out to buy 25 more. I'll still be out ther catching fish on my "trusty" Wishmasters!

Have you people trolled Parrywinkle baits? They are the best baits going!! There is a new bait on the block.... The 'P Crank" sold only thru Thornes Fishing in Fridley Mn... 763-572-3782.... I've used them thru the prototype stage....good action and can troll'em up to 5.5 mph.. some of them playing with weight/speed... 23 ft down at 5.5 mph on the gps.....you will hear more of them as they get to fish with the trolling groups...Jakes, Mavericks,Ernies also fill the ticket too....Later......

An 800 spoonplug with 20lb single strand wire will get down as deep as you need,,, at any speed, 0-10mph+.
I build a lure retriever that we have retrieved baits as deep as 51'. I met a guy this summer at the ramp and he told us of how he lost 2 $50 baits,,, Showed him what I had and said "I have nothing new with me but I'll ship one out immediately",, his answer, "sell me that one".

Oh, I've got a lure retriever alright, BUT.....
I'm still NEVER gonna troll a $300 bait anywhere near the bottom and/or snags! Why?....Ain't never gonna have a $300 bait....;)
