My friends and I have finaly decided on where to go for our Canada trip next summer. Looks like it will be Canyon Lake (the one that is northwest of Vermilian Bay, ON) in July.

I have never fished Canyon, but I know that it holds some HUGE muskies, the max depth is around 90 feet, and the waters are clear. There is only one slight stumbling block for me, I mainly fish stained waters. Have any of you had good luck fishing on Canyon?

(editted for this question to be added)

What is the forage base in Canyon Lake? Is it whitefish, perch or Ciscos??

Not sure if this is the same lake or not. I just got back from a fly-in to Big Canon lake NW of Vermilion Bay. We caught lots of lakers up to 5#, smallmouth 2#. On one of the portage lakes my brother and I caught 10 musky, 30-37" in one morning. On the river we caught lots of smaller walleye and lots of northerns up to 38". The main lake does have a forage base of whitefish.

tone, good luck on canyon. its been a few years since ive been there but heres some info. its a numbers lake for the most part, absolutely no northerns in lake. largest ive seen was about 46" (im sure there are bigger fish).numbers are very good, more follows than any lake ive ever seen. one evening we got 4 and lost 2 off one small bar in about one hour. hit reefs weeds by islands and in channel, and go under the railway bridge thru tunnel.we caught fish on everything.forage should be everything on your list. good luck and cpr
