I need some advice. The little woman has given me permission to update my musky equipment and lures. What is the best and worst piece of equipment or lure you have bought?

The best, I would say a good set of raingear. It really pays for itself. For the worste I would say any lure that I bought and did not like.

Best: I'd second the rain gear(Cabela's Signature series)!! If it's cold, it doubles as windbreaker..and I can stay dry in the rain now...couldn't do that with the former set...

Worst: Poe's Awaker....tail fin is poorly mounted and weak. would always lose it's tone due to the tail changing from water pressure and/or moving in the bait since the only think really holding it is a staple..

Second worst: A humminbird wide 128 depth finder. Hard to read at night from a distance and the clarity is horrible...you get what you pay for.

Hiya,
Tops on the list would have to be a set of Knipex hook cutters. Last forever as far as I can tell, and cut an x-heavy 5/0 one handed with almost no effort. Good raingear (Cabela's Guidewear) is another good choice.

Worst purches? Man, there are so many...heh. Probably in general though baits that are redundant when compared to ones I already have. If you're going to splurge on new baits, get some that do things the ones you already have don't do, or don't do well...

Hi , this is easy, best LOKE LURES catch 95% of my fish on them. Worst, every plastic Musky lure I have ever bought except my Top Raiders. and a couple of baby depth raiders that run good. Kingfisher

Easy, the best, My new Beckman net,the big magnum, it is so big and a joy to use.I have netted a couple dozen fish this year and there is just no comparision with a old small net.The worst, all the new lures I bought this year If my wife finds out.MuskeeMike

Best purchase in the last year or so was the top raider. It flat out produces fish. I was, and still am, but to a lesser extent, a big believer in the hog wobbler. But my last couple of trips to LOTW has converted me to the top raider. The worst pickup in the last few years was a pair of boots which did not have goretex. From now on, I will spend the extra few bucks to make sure all of my boots have goretex.

We used to have a black toy poodle when I was growing up. Wildest dog I've ever had. He used to lie down next to you, cuddle, fart, give you a look like I was the one who cut loose and walk away staring at me. He never backed down from anyone or anything, includeing snow plows in the winter time. He used to chase them up and down the street. In the summer, he moved on to cars until he got clipped. Smashed his foot and he wouldn't let us take him to vet for two days. When he got really wound up inside the house, he use to run as fast as he could around ever room bouncing off the walls, furniture, etc. until one holiday he knocked over the Christmas tree. Great dogs, but somewhat too high strung for me.

Sorry guys about thoughts of my youth

Mikey... Sounds very familar... Mine does the same exact thing runs around the house like crazy all the time! Emma is definatly a indoor dog and when we let her outside shes runs up and back in the yard and then wants to come in! When you go to bed she's right there next to ya and has to be touching you somehow! In the Spring and Winter its under the covers all curled up and the Summer in right next to ya all sprawled out! When im working on the boat shell hop onto the trailer and then whines cause she cant jump from the trailer into the boat till you pick her up and put her in! Hates the boat when its on the water though, its just to windy I think when your mov'n about. We try'd to put her under the port console when we're moving but that wasnt to successful! Take Care...

Sometimes I wonder if people really think that we are as ignorant as they are. For Pete sakes(no pun intended) that web site is the biggest stirring stick I've ever seen...and they're not cooking soup neither. As far as reading between the lines and seeing the whole picture I think most readers are pretty intelligent in making a determination on who's character is in question. Sometimes I wonder if some people really realize what kind of picture they paint in someone's mind about their character by what is posted on the internet. Sorry for posting something off the subject, but a post helped me steer away from it.

My best investment would have to be my GPS and my worst was probably was cheap raingear. Nothing worst than the pants ripping out in the crotch after a day on the water.

catch ya later,
Krappie

Best purchase: Mustang Integrity Floater Suit - Fishing is more fun when you're warm.

Worst Purchase: I don't think there's a bad purchase if it has to do with muskie fishing.....except the Poe's Awaker....the blade flew off the lure on the third cast....now it hangs on the wall in my garage and collects dust.

When in doubt, trust your GPS.

Worst was the Pig lure, of course.

Best is clearly the Beckman Pen. Its been good for the fish, too.
