Hey muskrat,
We did ok, Fishkopp nailed a 44" fatty the first day we were there, Than the second day I popped a fish around 40" and the guide never told me that he was going to net my fish tail first and the fish jumped and threw my bucktail(no big deal, it was just a 40).
The next day Larry O got a 42" with the same guide.
After that the temp. just went nuts, It was like 84 degrees the rest of the week than a cold front slammed in and that was it.
That was pretty much it for catching fish, We had some nice follows, Nothing real big, The fish up there a like rockets that just appear.
A couple fish scared the crap out of me.
I also got a bonus 30" walleye (A nice fat one too)
I have pictures of the walleye and of Mikes 44"
I can email them over to chuck if you want to see them.
Hey let me know, Talk to you soon,Jeff<*))))><

Hey Jeff,

Let me guess - was Jody Mills the guide who netted from the back? He pulled one of those on us last year on a small one (~35" - but the first musky ever for my fishing buddy!).

He missed the fish on the first pass, but got him on the second.

Still to this day we talk about why on earth you try to net a fish, especially a musky, from the back.

Jody knows what he's doing though - see him mentioned regularly in Musky Hunter Mag with some huge fish - but I just don't get this netting from the back...

Hey don't get me wrong, Jody is a nice guy, but that is probably something he needs to go over with his clients before they even make the first cast of the day.
If it was my first musky I would have been very upset, But it wasn't and I've lost bigger fish from my own stupidity, So no big deal, In fact it was a awsome site to see that 40 incher come flying straight up out of the net and throw a bucktail, My feeling is no harm no foul.
As for his belief of netting a fish tail first, He explained to his reasons, His belief is that you can tangle the hooks in the front of the net as the other person is leading the fish into it and now the fish is hanging outside of the net with the hooks tangled in the front of the net, I personally don't agree and would never attemp to do it, But that is what he believes and he has netted some real giants that way, So who knows
Good hunting,Jeff<*))))><
