Thought that I'd pass this little tip along....This time of year when your doing those fall home fix up projects and your looking for something to use up the rest of the can of "Great Stuff" (expanding foam sealant) on...

Give your net handle a shot at each end to seal up the tubing. It's not necassary to try to fill the entire length of the handle, just the ends, as when it expands, it will travel further into the the tube toward the center and create an air pocket. You can also remove the "hoop" and shoot the ends of it. If you have an extending handle, just shoot the inner section and be careful not to gunk up the releasing mechanism.

Lost a net a number of years back and did this to all of mine. After the net slid off the soft top and into the drink, with the boards out, I was not able to get turned around quick enough to get it before it sank. As the handle filled with water, the net bag rose up out of the water and down she sent. Looked like a ship going down....I haven't had a net go in the drink since, but at least I don't have to worry if it does....Hope someone finds this useful...

If you haven't had it happen with this then how do you know this will keep it floating long enough to get turned around?

Trust me it works, did mine a little different, just stuffed foam into it, but it will float all day.

Tossed it in the swimming pool to give it the smoke test and it passed with flying (or should I saw "floating") colors...

1. The foam gives it flotation.

2. The trapped air gives it added flotation.

Besides that, I'm always looking for something to finish off a can of "Great Stuff". If you only use it for the net, at $4 a can, it's cheaper than a new net, to finish up a can being used for it's intended purpose, it's icing on the cake....
