Well as i wake up to fresh snow this morning with my steelhead streams freezing and 2 weeks of vacation im headed into the nice heated garage to play with the boat. I was wondering if anyone runs lead off of big boards i started running lead last year with some success just switching to the big boards this year to get more lines out also what are your recommendations on the best releases for big boards...............Fish on.......Instigator#735

I typically use metal shower curtain hangers with a rubber band between the hanger and your line. You can pick up these hanger at any local store for little money. This also allows you to change the size of the rubberband based on what you are pulling. Another feature that I like best is that you will see action on your rod when a fish is on and doesn't pop the release. I have started to use rubberbands on my downriggers as well, instead of a typical release. As a result you can tell when you have a fish on which prevents from dragging the fish around when the release didn't pop. I found it to be one of the best releases and by far the most inexpesive.

I haven't used leadcore line on the boards but my favorite releases are the Laurvick. Very, very dependable! Cabela's carry them as does Gander Mountain at Mill Creek Mall. They're reasonably priced, too at about $2.25 ea.
