I have LMS160 and was just out looking at GPS units at websites, and got to thinking again about trying a Hotmap. I almost did last year, but decided not to.

I see that the Whitefish Chain in MN is now available, and will probably try it out. But I'd like to see how some poeple like the maps they got first. $25 can buy me 3 or 4 paper maps. I already have Whitefish on paper, so this would be more a test of the electronic.

I still would like to be able to print out a portion of the map for my personal use in the boat, but I understand why they don't allow you to do that (I'm in software and know how much piracy takes from developers).

Any pros or cons would be appreciated. Happy New Year!

oh yeah, also have x75, and wonder if anybody has a quick fix suggestion for allowing both tranducers (lms160 and x75) to work at the same time. I read other posts about this, and will search again. Thanks.

I've got about 10 for my X15, but I've only used 3 so far. Like anything I'm sure we could debate all day on the merits of these things but I have really come to enjoy/depend on the mapping features of my GPS. I do ALOT of my trolling at night any these maps are awesome to keep you from getting all turned around in the dark (not that I've ever had that happen). Do they show every turn on a piece of structure? NO!!!! But they allow me with the use of event marker and waypoints to much more accurately anticipate turns and adjust my trolling passes accordingly. I will say this, and I will probably get hammered for it. If I had to chose between loosing my transducer or my GPS/Mapping features on a weekend trip, I'd lose the transducer everytime. My .02-Eric

I have the x-15 MT also and I would like to know if I can use my Lake Master CD's from Waypoint Technologies, Inc. Compared to the Map Create that I recieved from Lowrance I like the Lake Master CD's better. They show conture lines and depth. Unless I am using the Map Create wrong it doesn't seem to show that. Can someone help with these answers? Has anyone else used the Lake Master CD's? If so what are your thoughts. I have 2 of them, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Thanks to all who answer. JJ

JJ,
I use both the MapCreate and Lakemaster software for my Lowrance Global Map 1600.

Lakemaster shows you a topo map on which you can place waypoints. Then transfer the waypoints to your mapping unit. It's not made to transfer the topo map itself to your mapping unit.

I used the Green Bay map this season for fishing the bays de noc. It was surprisingly accurate.

Map Create maps do not show contour lines. You'll need Hot Maps type software for this. Check out previous posts and search the archives for more info.
