Santa was very good to me this year! He brought me a new digital fish scale, does anybody know how accurate they are? If they are reading off can they be adjusted to read the correct weights?
Thank You In Advance
i've used several normark scales and tested them with a gallon jug of water first. they are very close and consistent. close enough for any fish tale!

I have found them to be very accurate. You don't mention a name brand. Some meaure pounds/ounces, some measure pounds and 10ths of a pound. For instance, some will read 2.8 for 2 pounds 8 ounces, some will read 2.8 and that converts to 2 pounds 12.8 ounces.
A good way to test your scale is with meat from the store. It will likely have a digital weight printed on the lable. Like a pound of beef may be 1.2 pounds. Should match up. Or a turkey that weighs 13.5 pounds....
You can "tare" the weight too. I don'd like poking a fish with the hook on the scale. Hang the net on the scale, push re-set, when it flashes zero weight, place fish in net and weigh. You will have an accurate weight of the fish without the net weight.
We tested the new Berkley scales and found them to be very accurate.

I bought a Berkley digital 3 years ago and had the same concerns so I took two 10 pound weights off of my son's barbell and weighed them both. One weighed 9.8 lbs and the other weighed 10.1 lbs. So, when my buddies and I are fishing, I always add 0.2 lbs to my fish, and subtract 0.1 lbs from their fish. I think that's fair, don't you ?

I love your plan. Then again, I like mine pretty well, too. I simply guess at the weights the way I always did before. But then I make sure the digital scale is in plain view -- sometimes even waving it in front of the person I'm lying to.....er, I mean...telling the weight to. It adds an element of truth to even the most outrageous of fish weights. -- mark

This brings new meaning to the saying " Early to bed early to rise fish like he!! and make up lies ".or that fish was a L.D.R. " Long distance release but it would have gone at least 11 lbs.
