Would have posted this under the fishing report, but never got a line wet.

Just returned from a few days up on Lake of the Woods. On Friday, air temps were in the 30's, on Saturday and the remainder of the week temps were in the single digets and making good ice.

We went out Saturday AM and marked lanes for the road. We got out about 2 imiles from shore before we reached one area of open water. Up to that point ice depth ranged from 9" to 36" (Ice flows under each other). The average was 14". But with areas of 9" and some open water, all the resorts were setting up close to shore where ice depth was a consistant 16"-20"

With a week of cold temps like we are having now, they will be moving the houses deeper in a hurry. They might even be out to the reefs by now. No confirmation yet.

With high winds early in the ice making, there are a lot of un-navagable ridges close to shore, but once past that it looks clear. We glassed out beyond Gull Rock and it looks mild compared to the 4'-10' ridges in close.

Never got a report on the bite. Sorry.
