I have been out muskie fishing a couple of times with a buddy of mine and I have caught the bug.
I would like to learn more about muskie fishing. I am looking for books, videos and websites that can give me basics about equipment and techniques.
Thanks.

The best book is "Muskies on the Shield" by Dick Pearson. In-Fisherman has a number of videos. Here are some websites and then check out the links on each site.
www.esoxresearch.com
www.muskie411.com
www.muskyhunter.com
These will get you started. Then use information found to connect to other sites. Also, do a www.google.com search on muskie, musky, muskellange. Watch out for the "musky" search...it takes you into some extraneous stuff, some xxx rated.

There are plenty of musky web sites. So a google search for the "musky hot list". Tons of links there. You can also look at muskies101 and muskiefirst along with this site. The ones listed above are great too.

Another good book is "The Complete Guide to Musky Hunting" by Saric and Heiting. It will give you an idea of what lures are productive and how to fish them. "Musky Hunter" is an excellent magzine. You can check out both at http://www.muskyhunter.com - enjoy.

I would agree with both comments about the Pearson book as well as the Saric/Heiting book. I would start with Saric/Heiting, and maybe also pick up the video by Mehsikomer (I don't know if I spelled that right) called Muskies in the Shield, then go and read the Pearson book. I think the Pearson book ties everything together beautifully. After reading it, a lot of my musky experiences started to make sense. Good luck, and welcome to the endless quest.

There's always your local chapter of Muskies Inc , you'll meet fellow muskie nuts and get some good tips along with other countless tidbits of muskie catching info. You also get a monthly magazine to boot with years of catch info as well.
Good luck in your quest of muskie knowlege .

We're fortunate, the local video store has all the In Fish videos for rent. Hard to beat, "The Hunt for Big Fish," "Greatest Muskie Story ever Told," and the 2 volume set on muskie fishing.
The worst thing you can do is rent all 4 of them right now. Here in Minnesota, it is several months till the opener and those videos will cause many a sleepless night.

Where is your local video store with the fishing movies?
I live in the north metro part of the Twin Cities...
Go to MI meetings. North Metro has a chapter good way to pick up a lot of info. They meet at 7:30 on the 3rd Tuesday of the mounth at Knight of Columbus on HWY 65 in Fridley
Sorry the March meeting is a Pool side demo at the Blaine Sport Center
Good way to check out new baits. That's March 18

Recommend Pete Mania's Video "Musky Lure Techniques".
A must have for beginners.

Go to: http://www.toothycritters.com then click on books & videos.
There's also a book by Danny Wade on trolling for Muskies that is pretty good. Buck Perry's Spoonplugging is a must have.
