TOP 10 CAMP WALLEYE Reasons!

With the 2002 Fishing Season just around the corner and with so many options for the new year, I thought it might be a good time to share some ideas about the WHY’S, WHEN’S and WHERE’S of “Camp Walleye”

WHY’S – Since joining Walleye Central in August of 2000 so many people have asked us to either buy or run a tournament circuit. IF not a Tournament Circuit why not have more Walleye Central Get-togethers, Rally’s or events. The truth is we believe that the folks running the PWT, RCL and MWC circuits are doing a fantastic job and it makes much more sense for Walleye Central to support these circuits in as many ways as possible to give Walleye fishing the exposure it deserves, creating more opportunities for all of us who enjoy chasing walleyes.

Camp Walleye is really a product designed by Walleye Central to address the needs of the many anglers that either want to learn more about walleye fishing, find out how to catch more and bigger walleyes, or just want to fish with friends, business associates, tournament pro’s, Walleye Central folks, and family on bodies of water that offer lots of fish, lots of fun and most of all an experience that will last a lifetime.

Now for the TOP 10 REASONS:

#1 - Wisconsin River at Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin:

Without question one of the most beautiful rivers in the USA. To catch walleye and saugers in good numbers while floating the currents of the Wisconsin River jigging and 3-waying amongst the cliffs and boulders will paint a picture that you must experience to ever understand the greatest combination of “fish and landscape.” An “Early Birds” start to a 2002 Walleye Season that will leave you breathless and fulfilled for a March Madness Walleye experience.

#2 - Detroit River at Trenton Michigan:

Just a few miles south of the great city of Detroit- Trenton will host stop 2 on Camp Walleye’s fantastic 2002 Schedule. This river last year was the PWT’s first stop and I was fortunate enough to enjoy and witness more 10-pound, 11-pound and 12-pound walleyes being caught than I ever would have imagined. If you truly want a walleye over 8-pounds. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE!!!

April is right, the river is right, and the pros will show you how to catch the fish of a lifetime. We will be jigging, 3-waying, bottom bouncing and lead-lining, so if your desire is to learn RIVER TECHNIQUES do yourself a HUGE FAVOR and sign up for this one. From fishing literally within a “stone’s throw” from the great city of Detroit to 20 miles downstream and the mouth of Lake Erie some of the biggest walleyes ever are waiting for Camp Walleyes anglers.

#3 - Mille Lacs Lake at Isle, MN:

What more can we say about Lake Mille Lacs? Great fish, great lake and more fun than ever catching walleyes while slip-bobbering, 3-waying, long-line trolling, planer boarding, lead-lining, jigging, lindy-rigging, casting cranks and just about any other fishing technique known to mankind. The bonus at this camp will be Izatys Resort and 36 fabulous holes of golf if your arms get tired from hauling in walleyes.

#4 - Rainy Lake at International Falls, MN:

The combination of a river, a lake, lots of fish and the great “Up North” feeling for such an affordable price is almost too good to be true. Come join us at Thunderbird Lodge on Rainy with family and friends and jig, troll, lindy-rig, 3-way, slip-bobber, everyday from daybreak to dusk for more fun than Disneyland.

#5 - Lake of the Woods at Ontario, Canada:

7 hours from Minneapolis to “Walleye Fishing HEAVEN”. Wiley Point Resort (1 of 3 Totem Resorts) is not only a 5 star resort when it comes to accommodations it’s a 5 star experience when it comes to the total fishing package. You will learn more, eat more, fish more, and enjoy more than ever before. If it’s a true First Class Fishing Vacation that your looking for – bring your customers, friends, customer’s friends, customer’s friend’s friends or just yourself and enjoy the Canadian wilderness while learning about new fishing techniques and the secrets of many top walleye pro’s from across the country during one of our 8 seminars or spending time on the water with the pros. DO NOT LET YOUR FRIENDS MISS THIS ONE!!

P.S. and you might not want to let them come alone – it could be too much for them to handle.

#6 - Lake Michigan (Green Bay) at Sturgeon Bay, WI:

Could you ever imagine being in Door County Wisconsin catching huge walleyes with the Alpine Resort owning 27 beautiful holes of golf on the shores of Lake Michigan???? Too much…

For all of you out there that want to learn the techniques of fishing the Great Lakes now is your time. Planer boards spread with crawler harnesses, dipsey divers, pulling crank baits, or segmented lead core with snap weights you will become experts (OK if not experts) familiar with Great Lakes patterns while enjoying the beauty of Door County. Bring along your cameras and lots of film as the early fall bite promises to bring many trophy picture opportunities for all. Again you will learn the secrets of the pros during the many seminar panels and on the water teaching tips everyday during your stay. Fall is the ideal time of year to enjoy a getaway to Door County – we will save you a spot!
