Every year I'm more excited than the last to hit the water. The Minnesota Muskie Show always seems to bring that to a fever crescendo. I got a GIANT tail rotating surface bait from Lunker Bait Co. (Gman on the boards.) that I am dying to make waves with. This thing is huge! I'm thinking this bad boy has world record written all over it. I also got a cool looking GIANT bladed-quasi bucktail that doesn't have hair (just like me) but has this cool looking rubber leech mud puppy type thing on it. I bought that from Todd Minor (ToddM on the boards.) Are you guys seeing a pattern here with the GIANT bait thing? My wife says I'm compensating...but that's another story... :P What have you been doing to curb the urge and what are looking forward to this year?
It can't be long now, as I look out my window my lake is covered with water. :D Woohoo! (Ok, so it's just melted snow, but if I sort of squint my eyes, it looks like Summer.)
Im looking forward to being on the lake and seeing some top heavy chicks go by in bikinis and popping their tops off! :)
Just kidding. Im looking forward to seeing how my boat performs.
I did a lot of "MacGyvering" on it this offseason and added a lot of goodies. Im hoping everything runs like a champ!

Cast and blast

OHHHHHHHHHHH MANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you cannot believe how much I'm ready to throw some serious casts. I've got some real plans to hit the water as much as possible as my wife and I may be looking forward to some children on the horizon. My wife and I just implanted 2 fertilized eggs (IVF) in her womb on Saturday so maybe we will have twins? I could get so lucky as to have a double? That will be my world record for sure!!! This looks like it may be my last serious hardcore cast-n-blast for a few years. Then, I will have to educate my kids in the muskie madness if they so choose. She told me to fish a lot this summer so I don't bug the ##### out of her while she's pregnant! I guess that is a good thing? Cast-n-blast

I'm looking forward to my first full year in Bemidji (just moved here). I'm going to fish some smaller lakes I haven't fished before and get to know the larger lakes better. I'm going to try marabou bucktails and Lindy Tubes this year for the first time.

I'm looking forward to my first child which is due 2 wks before mn muskie opener. knowing my luck, she'll be 2 weeks late:(
Oh yea, I'm looking forward to buzzing ddfenner with my brand new boat with a 225 Merc "tonka buzzer" ;)
I am looking forward to "field testing" some more new lures the like of which you haven't seen before and maybe one you have if you were at the Swap. Mostly though I can't wait to get my new Triton and color BrianF green with envy! Of course, a new boat will automatically mean more Muskies, right?

Sweet.
Jim dose like them BIG lures.
He gave me one last fall, huge yellow UKO tybe deal, and I didn't know exactly what to do with it.
So I hung it on the edge of the north facing window sill on the corner of the cabin porch to look at and wonder how I would fish it and what the ##### would eat something that large?
LOL
Week later I had to Re-level that corner of the cabin.
:)
I Look forward to meeting new people and hooking up with old freinds and help them get on fish.
Finding new areas to fish with Bonnie and Our crew of Retrievers is always fun.
Love pulling up to the Island after ice out and opening the cabin.
It is truely like starting ALL over again.
Miss those Sunrises, Sunsets and quiet nights.
Just looking forward to a safe, fun open water season.
Everything else is just like good gravy over the spuds!
You don't need it, but is sure is nice.

I cant wait to fish Ty Sennett's new Stillwater topwater. I also cant wait to watch that sunset on the Chippewa Flowage or hear that loon calling in the distance. I GOTTA GO FISHING SOON!!!!!!
I'm pumped to start fishing BEFORE the season starts. I've mentioned this before and for some reason lots of people get all uptight. I'll be on the water in all the hotspots in MN, while the rest of you watch the calendar and wait...your fish is my fish!!

Hi Jack
How ya doing old Musky board buddie, and fisher of Pre-season Muskies?
We will ALL be looking out for you on the water buddie.
Please be aware that what your trying to do here is NOT working and if your caught breaking the law you and only you will have to stand tall before the man.
Then we will all see who is laughing and bragging my friend.
Good luck with what ever you do, but if you do it unlawfully, your FREE time will run out.
It always dose.
:)
With that being said, I'm going to go make myself a Very Tall and Very Thick Rootbeer Float!
Keep on rock'en!

In order: Retirement from work/work. Trip back to old stomping grounds in Minnesota. Eat. sleep, fish, rest; repeat for 6 weeks or it becomes work. Maybe never huh? Lake Vermilion for first time. Then back to Utah to show the boys here really how to catch Muskies. Then repeat every year until my last fishing trip and last sunrise.

So Jack, do you carry some slugs with you when you are out grouse hunting so you can shoot a deer before season?
Same difference.

FOUR SOLID MONTHS on Lake of the Woods. I'll get there on May 15th and leave on Sept. 15th. Spent three months last year, but the high water created challenges. I love those early season HUGE northerns and spotting hog muskies in the early clear water. It was amazing how much I learned about LOTW last year. I have been going there since 1953, but really learned the lake last year. I don't mean navigating it...I mean understanding it. Can't wait to land that 54" muskie I am aiming for this year.

Lund1650,
Where do you live? I'll go fishing with anybody!! I hope you're not disappointed though. I'm not a "Pro" by any means. I'm just a regular dork trying figure out these crazy fish. I'm in the Twin Cities quite a bit so let me know where you fish.
