I've fished the Kawarthas several times, and did very well. I'm not exactly sure when the season opens first or second week in june. Jerk baits, bucktails blk/silver blade, and trolling all work good.

Pigeon can be very productive in the opening weeks of the season EXCEPT if the water is very high and we get a sudden prolonged string of cold weather in early June... this shuts the walleye down, and everything shuts down too. If the conditions are warm and sunny, and the water level is at seasonal norms, the fishing can be awesome.

Go for it!

The season opens the first Saturday of June. I've always had good luck on the opener. I'd probally hit another lake in the Kawartha's other then Pigeon though. It's been hit real hard the last 6 years and there are a few other lakes in the Kawartha's as good or better then Pigeon.

You mentioned walleyes. Our crew fished pigeon for a week last fall primarily for muskie, but a few guys logged many hours searching for a walleye with no success.

We are headed back this September. Can you throw us any tips for how to get on the eye's in September? Where/using what?

Thanks.

Try John McBride he is a guide on Pigeon and owner of green acres campgrounds and cabins. he could help you out. he also runs a little tackle shop which could be of use.
