It looks like I will be taking a week long vacation with my wife and daughter and another couple at a resort on Fishtrap Lake in early August next summer. Can anyone give me any information about the muskie fishing on this lake? I don't have any experience with it at all, the ladies in the group want a nice place for the kids to swim and I said the lake needed to have muskies in it. They said that it did and made reservations at a resort. How does it look for my week of intermittent muskie fishing? Any info would be appreciated.
thanks

Good choice of lakes. Are you staying at Wittigs(sp)? If so it looks like a nice place from the water. You can fish both Fishtrap and High lake as well as the river. Early august should be prime topwater time. Get the lake maps and talk to some other fishermen and you should do alright.

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure of the name of the resort, but its not Wittigs. How is the fishing on the river?

My recomendation is kerecman's fishtrap resort. Great people and a nice reasonable place to stay. Fishtrap and high can be good or bad in august. If the lakes don't bloom expect good musky fishing. Fast lures like zalts are good over the weeds and deep weed edges. If it has bloomed, I would throw topwater. There are some nice bass and walleye too along with some pike. High is a more productive lake for me.
