I have used 65 lb. test for the past 4 seasons. I have never had it fail. Many prefer the 80 lb. or even 100 lb. especially when fishing jerk baits. I would STRONGLY recommend not going any lighter than 65 lb. test.

I use 65 on my low profile reels and 80 on my round reels. 65 is too thin for the 5500 and 6500 sized reels and i get dig-in backlashes and lost lures from it. It's fine on my garcia torno.

Hey rebs;
I use 65lb P.P for bucktails and 80lb for everything else. If I were to move off 80lb, I would opt to go up to 100lb as the larger the dia. the less likely it is to backlash due to the line cutting into itself on the spool. The 80lb P.P has about the same dia as 20lb mono.
Cheers and tight lines,

I used 65# for a few years. When it came time to re-spool I decided to try 80#. I like it just fine in terms of fishability, and now I've got that extra 15# in case I need it. 80# is still only the diameter of conventional 20#. I might even go to 100# on my jerkbait rod the next time I re-spool.
Thank you for all the info I appreciate it
