I was in a sporting goods store in Caire Mi. last week and ran into a tackle salesman.
He had a dynamite looking heavy duty (musky size)level wind reel with him that was hanging below the rod, so you hold rod in right hand and crank with left hand like a spinning reel. Since you can't thumb the spool it also has a trigger drag, in addition to the star drag.Felt about twice as heavy as my daiwas, but with it mounted below the rod it's so much better balanced it felt really good.
He said it's being made by walker downriggers, and will be targeted at salmon fishermen, but claims they won't be available till March, that he just had samples and only a few pro staff have them now. I haven't seen them anywhere else yet, but if they aren't too much I'd like to give them a try on muskies.
Anybody else seen them or know much about them?

Just buy the left handed model...or hold the right handed upside down and reel backwards....seems simple.

Thanks,]
