Joco,

If your looking for quality, you cant beat the new 8' Avid heavy for casting big cranks and dawgs.

Don't forget to check out the 6'10" and 7'6" All Stars.

I tend to prefer St. Croixs rods over Loomis'. They are both nice rods however. St. Croix has really made some big strides in the last few years and in my opinion they are an industry leader.

I've built one All Star for a customer and it was a very nice blank. Big diameter with thin walls. He uses it for throwing big Jakes. He's very happy with it.

Better to have and not need than to need and not have!

tell you what,
I've tried them all, got to thorne bros, get yourself a diamondback! The 7'7 heavy model you can cast a 10" jake all day! A loomis or a croix feels like a stick compared to these.
