Since there's still no ice here I've been wasting a lot of time on the computer and stumbled into this.
Mapquest has nice free aerial views of lots of lakes we fish around here - you get a good look at the structure and weed growth.

I was just at the site, but all I see are landmark, airports, colleges and sports stadiums. Where is the link for lakes?

I put in my home address - on the top of the map you get an option to click aerial view.
I also just typed in the name of the lake or town and zoomed in on the street map - then you just click over to aerial view - it is kind of neat to see the structure from above - very clear.

I see...thanks for the info. Mapquest has always been a great "go to' site for travel info.
I can't get any aerial photos to come up. What I'm I doing wrong? Thanks!
I don't see any option for aerial views on the top of the map either! What am I doing wrong, because I find it very interesting.

Just type in the address in the map finder like you would do normally. When the map pops up, there should be a tab on the top of the map that says aerial views.
BTW....not all maps in the database have an aerial view associated with it.
I do not see the aerial view either. I've tried several addresses, i.e Cass Lake, MN. Just get a standard map.
I'm with ME & GABE, that's all I can get too!

Hi,
If you want good views use: http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/default.asp
And yes, Cass Lake is there!

it does have the potential,..but in my area the images are very dark, is that common? Almost looks like night view.

I must have got lucky on Mapquest - the image is a color one and so clear and close up I can see my house and all the neighbors piers.
I can also see only 1 boat on the water as well as all the points and under water structure.
