Jobs site or a walleye site?

Is this a job search site or a walleye site?
Wouldn't these postings be better suited for a for sale forum or wanted forum?

I dont see a problem with it. Its a general discussion site. I think its kinda interesting seeing jobs in the fishing industry.

I think this is an excellent forum for fishing related job postings. There are many talented and energentic fishing fanatics regularly looking at this site. The purpose of this site is to bring people of a common intrest together. Go for it.

It would be interesting to see a page someplace that did list outdoors and fishing industry job ops. WC.com would be a great pool of talent to draw from for many Co.'s.
Just a thought anyway.
Have a Happy & SAFE New Year!

What a great place this would be to find the right people for your fishing-related business. Bring them on, I'm sure most of us enjoy reading them even if we aren't in the job market.
To da whiner

I just bet you'd whine even if you won a million bucks. Youd probably cry that it was not 3 million. Happy New Year and lighten up, life is too short to whine all the time.
Obviously outnumbered on the job vs. walleye only.

Whoops.
For good reason!!
I like the idea of posting fishing industry jobs on WC. You never know who on this board is looking for a job in the industry. For me, it just makes me think, "If only I were single!"

I for one am glad to see you consider us fisherman here for the prospective job! The post belongs, hope you find the right guy. Hot Spots has a great product, whenever I consider a new body of water to fish I look for a Hot Spots Map to study before ever getting there. They have been very accurate with lots of good information. I hope you ignore the origional responder and continue to post such messages.

I'm all for open questions or postings. If it somewhat related to guy stuff. I just don't want to hear about what pattern wallpaper to hang in a teal painted kitchen with mauve drapes.

Y'know? I thought about WC being a decent place to post this job. First, would it be pulled because it doesn't relate to fishing? Then, I saw the ad for Lindy. We support Ted's tournament travels, have for years and his job op is there...plus, Fishing Hot Spots is a sponsor of the site, and it IS related to fishing, so I did.
When I saw the first posting, I figured I may have made a mistake, but I've come to know better and read on. I knew you guys wouldn't let us down. Thanks for the support.
FHS is not a big company at all, but we are the biggest at what we do. Nearly everything we make is poured back into the product because making these maps is pretty expensive. We have 35 new and updated titles coming out this year alone! Not to mention three new books.
This site is gracious enough to allow companies, like Lindy and FHS, to post this type of information. You never know, there may be that "diamond in the rough" out there. This is a qualified fishing site that would do a lot more for our sport than a local newspaper as far as advertising is concerned. That's why we've joined with Scott and the crew to support it. Every time you click on our logo and purchase a map, this site benefits. Know also that you do too, because we watch where you guys all fish. And as many of you see, I'm on this site waaaaay too much. We answer your questions, we have opinions and never do we shy away from identifying ourselves.
FHS is a neat place to work, and we work hard. If you don't like the post, click the back button and move on. But know that a better product is coming out because of our involvement in places like Walleye/Muskie Central and the great people who frequent it.
What is wrong with posting job openings? Nothing. Some one may be looking for a job in the fishing industry. keep up the good work.

Mike:
While we are on the subject of your products, I have a suggestion.
I think it would be great if your wonderful maps available for download. It would be great to plan a trip, go to your site, pay some cheddar and plan my trip without going all over looking for a certain map.
Just a thought.

I for one do like the idea that industry people hang around checking out our ideas and opinions, I wish more openly would and I couldn't think of a better place to do so then here.
The fact they wish to prospect for worthy employees here is a compliment to all the contributors, and the Walleye Central staff itself, so I am all for it.
I hope my earlier comment was not taken as a vote to eliminate such posts, it was not intended to come off that way. I was expressing the thought that if there were more such openings out there that maybe there could be a page designated here on Walleye Central for job opportunities and positions. It may just draw out some more interesting jobs for us to check out?

I like the idea of just allowing it in the General Discussion forum. It will get much more visibility here than in a separate forum. It's fishing related, it's not a "get rich quick scam", I think it is a great idea. But then again it is Scotts' decision.

Perchjerker...
We're well on the way! Take a look at--- http://www.outdoorintel.com/oims/index.html
Outdoor Intelligence is an affiliate with the exclusive license rights to our data. They're working on all sorts of ways to compress the huge files and make them accessible to you guys online. Their map server is a first step. We have relationships with many great companies like Garmin, Navionics, National Geographic, all wanting the same thing you do, and working with us to achieve it.
The list of maps is growing almost weekly, so check back from time-to-time. ESPN and BASS are just two of the sites already capitalizing on this information, and it's paying off.
Thanks for the suggestion...and good luck on the water!

Thanks Mike...I had a feeling you guys would be all over this issue!
Just remember, us guys with a cable connx dont mind a 600 mb download, put them out there as soon as you can!
As far as the link in your post, I tried to go to it, but it didnt connect. I am in the midst of a changeover in my service from mediaone to comcast this weekend, its been a crapshoot as to what works and what doesnt..I will keep trying.
Question
01-01-2002, 12:26 PM
Would a guy still have time to fish?

I think it is great to see outdoor related job postings here. I have a good job today but it was not all that many years ago that I was looking. This forum is also "General Discussion". I cannot think of a better reason for posting than to possibly land someone a job or give someone a lead to one. Keep it up.

I use Fishing Hot Spot maps but I retired over 10 years ago at age 55 to follow my interests in fishing, hunting and trapping.
Working never bothered me but the very thought of going back to work at a regular job would make me physically sick.
I don't believe I could tell you how liberataing it is to have all the time you need to pursue outdoor interests.
