I doubt I will get much help from this board, but I need some information on Whitefish Bay, Lake of the Woods. With all of the jackasses posting #### about killing muskies and shooting eagles, I thought maybe I could change it up with a good question.
If anyone has ever fished this water during Late August through Mid-Late September, I would like to know what patterns i might find the fish in. I have been there in June and the first week of July and seen some monster fish, but that time doesn't work out for our group this year. So we are going either Aug 29th - Sept 4th, or sept 17th - sept 23rd. If anyone has some good information on these times, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi:

I spend quite a bit of time in Whitefish at that time of year. I find that most of the fish are on mid-lake reefs, small islands, or points. Weed growth at that time of year in Whitefish is usually still pretty good. Most standard presentations work.

I'ts not a bad time to try a little trolling as everyone else will be casting.

Good luck, no doubt I'll be there somewhere also.

Doug hit the nail on the head, never be afraid to fish deep humps with the clear water these fish can see these baits a mile away.I find that early morning and late day to be peak times.

Thanks for the info guys. When casting the small islands, points, and other structure, we usually throw jerkbaits (Suicks, Bobbie baits, Smitty baits, Sledges, Reef Hawgs) and big bucktails. I am also planning on throwing more topwater (Jackpots, Top Raders) this year. Are there any other lures or presentations that we should try? We don't troll too often, but that might be a good option when we get a little tired.

Down sizing also can work in the clear water, have caught muskies on bass size spinner baits.Bull dawgs also good when working deep humps.Good luck.
