Lake traverse tournament

I fished in the circle K lake traverse tournament this saturday and was surprised to see what sizes of walleyes are still in the lake.There were about 10-12 fish over 8lbs taken and allot in the 24-26 inch range.My partner and I didnt do that great as are pre tournament patern dried up,I bet this a typical story.The day before the tournament I found a spot that is rarely fished and caught 4 fish in about 20 minutes that would have ranged from 4-6lbs plus a 7 pounder.The next day all we caught in that spot was 10"-12" fish.The only gripe I have about this tournament is it is voluntary catch & release I hate to see people put the knife to a 7lb+ walleye but I guess that is there perogative.As for us and the other guys I know that fish the lake we put all of our fish back into the lake after weigh in.How did the guys fishing the usfa tounament on big stone do?I heard that there is a big problem with trying to fish the lake because of allot of green slime in the water that coats youre line and lures right away.
