Oh man, dont even start this one!!:)
Actually, my wife has no problem with it. I could be hanging out in bars possessed with other thoughts, like her ex did!
Its kinda hard to pick up women 8 miles offshore in 4 footers. Just make sure your wife realizes that!!!:)

Ya well, she used to say that I guess, and most likely still does?
;)
Now she thinks her new boyfriend hunts & fish's too much, poor slob.

No thinking about it.She knows I`m addicted to fishing and that I would rather spend a day fishing than doing just about anything...
I once heard the question asked of golfers ~Would you rather spend a day golfing with Tiger Woods or with a gorgeous model/actress "playing around"..
Now put that in terms of fishing~A day on the water with your fave angling pro or with a trim, sleek leggy well built lady(Selma H./Halle B./Faith H/any p.boy playmate??..
Gee thats a toughy eh!...lol...For me it might depend on where were fishing!!.ha ha.Tight lines..By the way from what I heard about %85 of golfers took the day on the links...lol
my favorite ex-wife (i only have one...), was a fishing fanatic. she did a lot of guiding out of our place at mille lacs. she would've lived in the boat. great fit, right? do you really believe I was going to be the one that stayed on shore and quit fishing when we started having kids? it was a dirty job...but i did the fishin'. so now...

In our house the argument is which one of us is the most obsessed with walleye fishing. I think it's a tie!!
will the wives please stand up?
what the heck...this could get interesting!

Between her and fishing I told the wife she ranked in the top 2.
About 12 years ago she thought I may be spending to much time on the water. Back then what I did was bother the ##### out of her when I was home. Without fail she would finally have enough and tell me to get out of her hair and go fishing. Another approach is to always take a kid with you. Hard for them to argue that one.

My wife realizes I need to fish, it's my sanctuary. We're both medical professionals, and I would imagine it's cheaper and it's definatley more fun than going to a shrink. She likes to see me come back refreshed and happy. Then it's back to business.....

Listen, I told my wife it was for better or worse.....she couldn't do no better and I couldn't do no worse. 6 months after I got off life support, she says she's glad I'm fishing for fish and not for some other stuff. But, I get the feeling from my bank account she shops as much as I do outdoor stuff, so as long as I don't complain, she doesn't either. I may never get to retire, but at least I get to fish and hunt.

I know when I am spending too much time with the fishing stuff is when I get home and she has dinner ready ... in the boat!

There are worse things to be obsessed with. I gives her something
to "good naturedly" complain about, and fish to eat to boots.
Her obsession with auction sales is more than a match.

My wife loves to fish and the only time she gets upset is when I don't bring her along. We go on 3 week long fishing vacations a year and the only time I get the boat all to myself is when the waves are over 4' or it's raining cats and dogs.
She puts on her own leaches, handles the net like a pro, makes a great walleye dinner, doesn't think I have too many lures/poles/reels and has no desire to drive the boat.
Guess that makes her a keeper :)

As Dodge1 said, I've got the perfect keeper. She knows I am addidcted to fishing and is ok with that. She accepts that during the off season I have 20 rods lines up in the corner of the bedroom, and doesn't think I have to many. She can bait her own hook, net fish with the best of them (knows when the fish is ready), and really doesn't need any help in the boat. She knows when its time to fish tourney's that I may dissappear for a week or so, and doesn't complain when I say I need some tourney money either. She looks at me when I get ornry and says you need to go fishing, get out of here. She let me buy a full size fridge for the garage to keep leeches and crawlers too. The only drawback is with little kids yes all of us get to go fishing, the drawback is that her & I don't get to fish alone often enough. My plan is to get her in a torney this year, rather than having her watch from shore.

Is this really questionable? Lets see, we're a bunch of guys that have to get on a website to talk about fishing when we can't go fishing! Obsessed? Ah Yea, you could safely say that. Now where's my rod and reel honey?

Years ago my wife said that she would not mind if I was making money while I was fishing, that way she could justify the expenses, so being the good husband I was, I started a guide service, then it was "your not home enough" and "I am never able to plan anything" (during the busy times of year), and the list went on!!
So now it is 2002, I have been - a wife for 2yrs, I am still guiding, and have a girlfriend that absolutly loves to hunt and fish, so things have turned out great. But one thing I will say about the marriage thing is, there is no Walleye out there that is worth the loss of a marriage, either financially or pshycologically (with the possible exception of a 20+, haha), there always has to be a balance between family and fishing, for those of you that have wifes that do not mind how much time you spend on the water, congrats and stick with her, for the rest of us, we have to work a little harder for the balancing act. I know from experience that it is hard to enjoy your time on the water with the feeling of guilt that you get when you should really be spending that time with your significent other. just my 2 cents worth.

I took my wife to Ontario last year. She was once satisfied with bluegills and perch. After catching some nice eyes and a couple of huge snot rockets she's hooked on more than panfish now. Will I ever be able to go by myself again???
