Hey Guys,

Just sold my Lund Mr.Pike with everything on it, fenders, dock lines, anchor/chain/rope, safety equip.,etc. The 1800 Fisherman is ordered and the only thing I've got so far is a Minn Kota Auto Pilot ( I'm in this club ! ). Does Cabela's marine dept. have most of the items that are in the catalog ? I'd like to see some of this stuff in person and it's only a 3 hour drive....Thanks

It's a 3 hr drive for me too, but I've been there 1/2 dozen times. They'll have everything there in stock for you. It's the neatest place I've ever shopped in. Magic Marker

Yea!!! Cabelas in Dundee rocks...

Im not really sure if they have all the things that the catalog has. I figured when I got my minn 65 ap for 11 bucks shipping I would spend that in gas driving from Detroit, and they might not even have it, plus no sales tax on a big ticket item, plus the fact I wouldnt be picking up this and item I couldnt live without...which I am sure they base their business on. Its a great place, I feel lucky they decided to put one within driving distance from me. I have been buying from Cabs way before it became fashionable, they have always treated me good.

Hey Perchjerker,

I've had great luck with the mail-order too. Just thought I might go on up so I can fondle the merchandise. Maybe I just need a road trip !

Got it, looks great, got the removable mount as well. Thanks for your help and all the WC crowd replies.

Tell me about the mount, bud. I saw it in the catalog. Is it a quality unit?

The sucker is solid. Had one on the MR.Pike underneath a Maxxum. The Minn Kota Maxxum is a heavy weight, but no problems with this mount. I like it for the security when I travel and trailer and no need to alter the cover. My $.02, only way to go.

No fair,:'( you guys can drive to Cabelas without having to spend a night on the way. We don't have those luxuries here in eastern NY.
Someday I'll get out that way and stop in to one of those stores where they actually have what you want and can touch it. Until then I'll just be happy for you fellas.:)

they carry about 90% in the store. if you don't see it ask, they'll look in the warehouse. one person that will help you any way he can is Roger Beadle. ask for him. plus they can bring in any item they carry to the store, then the'll call you when it arrives. i know that means another trip there, but it sure is a great place to spend some time in the winter. -FIELD TRIP-.

I was lucky enough to visit the store in Dundee last October. The Marine dept. doesn't have everything that the Catalog has. They do have a real nice department though. You just have to go! Cabela's largest retail store is awesome! Now I am waiting for the store near Kansas City to open as that is only an hour or so away. Hopefully it won't won't just cater to the bass and catfishermen.
Hope this helps!
Happy New Year!

You'll be able to drive to a Cabelas store sooner than you think.
With the new Carousel Mall expansion (Destiny USA) in Syracuse N.Y. (1.7 billion) ....Cabelas is one of the Anchor stores that will be coming here.
There's also talk of Bass Pro but I think Cabelas has first choice.
there's still a lot of voting and bickering going on politically but it will be built and we will have a Cabelas here in Central N.Y.

I was in Brooklyn Michigan last January for an Ice Fishing get together and it was only a 25 mile drive from Dunee where Cabelas is.
We were in Michigan for 6 days and I believe we visited Cabelas 5 times in that stretch !
Absolutely incredible place to shop and see !
The wildlife and fish mounts are incredible as is the aquariums. I've got a lot of great video while I was there
Cabelas owners said that Syracuse is withing 5 hours of many major cities so that's why they chose ths area.
It really is a tourist attraction !

Dundee Michigan is only 7 1/2 hours from Syracuse and only 45 or 50 miles north of Toledo Ohio. Rt. 90 all the way to Toledo then north on rt. 23 (I think) to Dundee and Cabelas is right in front of your nose as soon as you get into town !

I'm going back to Brooklyn for another ice fishing get together on jan 20th through the 26th.
Hope the credit cards have some room left !

Cabela's is at exit 17 off of 23 north. That puts it 17 miles north of the ohio border, but im not sure how far the turnpike is south of the border...i think around 8 - 10 miles.

If you are interested in doing some walleye through the ice on Round Lake when you are up in January, E mail and Ill hook you up. It's the private lake next to Devils, and in my opinion, it's the best walleye lake in the county (no pressure!). Several 18"-22", and usually once a night, one of us will pull in a 26"-28". Of course this was last year, but I would expect nothing less this season. I can tell you more after Thursday night, because thats my first night out there this season.

Ive got a cottage on the lake, which you will need to park at to have access. Just let me know (or any one else who will ever be in the area), and I'll give you directions on where to go. If it's in the evening Ill be out there anyways.

Good luck at the tournament.

Im heading there at 10am this morning (01/02/01). If you let me know the specifics of what you are looking for, Ill check it out for you and get back with you in the afternoon.

I work 10 minutes from Cabelas (in Tecumseh)and usually stop in once or twice a week, so let me know if you ever need something checked on quick.

Tony just so people don't get confused by your post. You get off the Turnpike at Renolds Road(Use to be Exit 4) now they go by mile markers too. You have to make a couple right hand turns but follow the signs to Rt 23 north-only a few miles then you have about 6-8 miles in Ohio and 17 miles in Mich and your there. Exit 17 in Mich. You can't miss it as it's right along side Rt 23 at the exit...

Thanks for clearing that up, it was dark and we had just driven 8 hours to get to Michigan so I was a little foggy I do remember the trip from Brooklyn Michigan to Dundee very clearly as we made the trip almost daily ...25 miles or so
Left turn out of the hotel parking lot and left turn into Cabelas parking lot with nothing but straight driving in between !
I'll be back there in three weeks !
