Anyone have any new ideas for opener that you have been cooking up for the last 3-4 months, all mine last opener got blown out of the water, then I went to the old minnow bait boom there she is, rod tick off the boat, there she goes, my secret weapon this year Fish more, play harder, work less.

Muskiefool -- I've got a lake here in Illinois where the water is already soft, and I will hit it within the next couple of weeks for the first time this year. Last year early, I was using my standard 6" grandma doing the slow cranking and twitching routine and all I caught the first couple of trips were bass. The bass were big -- in the 4 to 4 1/2 pound range so I wasn't complaining. But, the second afternoon of this and not seeing any muskies, I was getting a little frustrated. When I was loading up my boat on the trailer, a bass fisherman came up and asked how I was doing, and I explained. He looked at me funny and said he was using a jig and pig or jig and creature bait and was catching muskies and couldn't find any bass. So, this year the first couple of days on that lake I'm going bass fishing (with my muskie gear).
