Will be headed once again to LOTW just north of Nestor Falls in the Stehpens Bay area early to mid-June. I've always seen some good Muskies while fishing the area and am needing/wanting some good advice on my best color/pattern choices with an old lure being re-vamped by a custom bait builder. I've included the link to his site and would appreciate some advice pertaining to what you think my top three color/pattern choices should be from those of you who are avid Musky hunters and know much more about them than I do. Thanks in advance for your help and advice!!

Later in June? I was thinking it opened about June 15th, but I guess I'm likely mistaken! Appreciate the heads up, guess I'll have to do some checking on the opening date and adjust my trip to overlap the opener. Could ya give me a little help on color & pattern choices though? I like to figure out the best 2-4 choices from guys that target muskies more frequently than I'm able to so I can get them ordered. I've got tons of in-line spinners (musky size) and several other typical musky hard baits but living here in Oklahoma where there are no muskies or muskie baits to be had other than on TV and mags, I thought I'd try here for some good advice.
Thanks

hawker;

I do not fish LOTW so have no suggestions on colors for that specific body of water but can say that the colors which have been good to me wherever I have fished from Ohio to Canada and everything in between have been:

Spinnerbaits; black with nickel blades, hot orange, and firetiger.

Bucktails; black with nickel blades, white with brass or copper blades, and firetiger.

Crank and/or Jerk baits; natural colors for available forage base, yellows, and firetiger.

Surface baits; natural colors for available forage base, black, and firetiger.

Glide baits; naurals, orange, and firetiger.

Rubber creature baits; black, brown, white, yellow, and firetiger.

In short, if the water is clear throw natural colored baits, if the water is stained or dirty throw bright colors.

I've got all the colors that most musky hunters have in my arsenal, but the above colors have accounted for the lion's share of all muskies caught over the years.

Cheers, tight lines, and good luck on you musky trip,

Musky Mike

Thank you MLK & Muskiefool, you have both been very helpful with your advice. I've pretty well got the colors taken care of with the bucktails, close on the glider baits, for sure on the spinnerbaits but really didn't know what my best choices were or should be for the cranks. I really do appreciate your response's, THANKS!!!

If you are looking for the best lures out there, I have had the best luck on my days on the lake with the handmade Lokes. John over at Loke Lures is amazing with his art, and my god do they catch the fish. I will sometimes fish half the rods with wileys or beleivers and the other side with Lokes and the Lokes always outproduce anything I throw at the muskies. I jsut found out for mysrlf the other day the Loke has a website now www.LokeLures.com - Check them out and if you place an order I can assure u that u will be in awe. I would be buying more myself by the boat is going to be in the shop until mid summer, I am kind of broke right now also. Best of luck to ya.
