I recall 4 hours after the light comes on. Not sure, but have been doing it for the last (3) seasons with no problems.
I just bought a new battery for mine and in the instructions for charging they tell you to charge the battery 15 minutes for every hour that you used it. The only other way to tell if it is charged is to check it with a voltmeter. But you must let the surface charge wear off before you do this.

I think the instructions are written right on the charger and it says to charge until the light is rapidly blinking or on steadily and then quit.
These batteries are just like any other dry cell do not leave them discharged or it will shorten their life.
You can pick up new battery like that at Batteries Plus.
Good Fishing.

Just charge the battery to the level that it has a solid red light that comes on. You will know because when you disconnect the charger from the wall the light stays on as it is reading the battery. This should not be any different than when you plug into the wall. Be the same light level.
Take Care.

I called Vexilar (612-884-5291) two years ago with that same question . They said the the charging is done when the red light illuminates and to unplug the charger soon afterwards.
