I need some advice on having a reproduction done. I caught a 48" musky and want a reproduction. I would appreciate any recommendations and also things to look for. Someone suggested Artistic Anglers out of Duluth. Thanks for the help, John

I have seen his work and he is one of the best I have seen. I would suggest you wait until you get a fish 50 or more inches though, as they are expensive and you certainly would want to mount a bigger fish if it happens.

On average, a quality reproduction is less than $1 an inch over that of a skin mount...it'll last longer and the fish is STILL ALIVE.

I'd check out Lax Taxidermy in Conover, WI or Fittante Taxidermy in Antigo, WI as two excellent choices. Both shops provide tremendous reproductions and are known throughout the Midwest. Both regularly attend the sportshow circuit too, so you can see their work up close and personal.

We've been with Ron/Rick Lax for many years from our sport shop and more than 30 mounts later we're still proud to recommend them.

I too would recommend Lax and/or Fittante studios. Have seen their work and it is excellent. Both my son and I have replicas currently being produced by Lax.

Both these studios attend the various Musky Expos each spring and offer show specials which amount to about a $2/per inch savings.
