What's the chance that a sub-54" would have the girth to break the standing world record? A fish you'd have to release...And I can hear the roar already about weighing one on a certified Chattilon scale, certified by the IGFA. Then having to release it because of the minimum length needed. That would make you cry. Anyone remember Martin Williamson's measurements on his 60 lber. from 2000? Anyway, could it happen??? Thanks.

I think that would be very unlikely. There's lots of very warm water and lots of bait this year so we've already seen some exceptionally fat musky this year and some over 54". Because of the abundance of bait the musky seem to be much fatter then in previous years so I think this fall will produce some giants, but I still think it will take an upper 50" class fish with exceptional girth to break the world record.
