Ive only caught 3 muskiues in my life. All 3 were on fairly heavy mono. Ive been fishing hard for the past month w/ cortland spectra and did manage to get a follow but no fish. Any of you guys ever have muskies shy from the heavy superbraids w/ wire leaders. Im a real rooky w/ muskies and we dont have a ton of em here in NE Pa but I just feel funny dragging these 1/4 lb. , lures behind braided steel leaders, tied to this super visible winch cable. I wouldnt want to fish for bass or walleys w/ rigging like this. Am I giving these fish more credit than they deserve? Does the average musky have any fear of line? I switched to braided line because I lost 1 too many $15 suicks when my 20 lb mono broke and sent it flying in to the next county!! But like I said earlier I wasnt having tons of luck w/ the mono either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most everybody uses a braided line to musky fish. Time of day could have something to do with follows too as well as the mood of the fish. You could try a flourocarbon leader to see if that ups your odds. I think if a flkourocarbon leaders does give you an advantage, it would be highly pressured waters with edumacated fish.
