Hello, can anyone fill me in on Canyon lake in Ontario north of Vermillion Bay. I'm looking at a trip in mid Sept. and have done the Eagle lake thing and was looking to change things up. Anyone have info on just how good the muskie fishing is and how big they are, along with the walleyes and smallmouth. The Muskie fishing on Eagle was faboulous but everything else pretty much sucked. We are also looking at doing a little grouse hunting also. It looks like there is only 2 lodges on the lake, any reccomendations. Thanks in advance for any help.

We stayed at McIntosh Lodge and it is a great place. Becky and John are wonderful hosts and the cabins are well taken care of. John will tell you how to fish the lake and where to go. There is a portage lake to fish and if the weather is too bad to get out on the lake or if you want to try northerns he has directions to another lake. We fished from the bank and caught a lot of fish......large fish. Had a great time there also.

It's been a while since I fished it but I did catch several musky there. Try the mouth of the inflowing creek. You have to travel under the tracks and all the way to the back of that inlet. Fish hold all around the mouth of that creek. I caught two on three casts. Try a silver/grey Bulldawg.
