I am not a Muskie fisherman and have only caught a few small ones while fishing for Walleye in Eagle Lake, Canada. My wife and I just returned from Gullrock where she caught what appeared to be a 30" Muskie but without the usual Muskie markings. Instead it was silver and reflected blue and pink hues as the sun shown on it.....not unlike a rainbow trout. I think I have heard of Silver Muskie. Is there such a thing and might this be what we caught? By the way, it left more yellow slime in the net than I have ever seen. We were able to unhook it without taking it out of the net and released it. Did get a picture though. thanks for any insight you guys may have.

Finally figured out how to get a picture available. www.walleyecentral.com/photopost/showphoto.pcp?photo=2336

No Muskies in Gullrock is what Camp owner said as well, unless one made it in from Red Lake. Never heard of a Blue Pike but that sounds like a logical name for what we caught. Think the above link will get you to the picture.

Sorry guys, I'm a computer dummy! Wrong address but go to wallleye central's photo page, hit members photos and search for larrym. I have a picture posted there of the fish in question and it's the only photo under my name.

larrym;

They used to have blue pike in Lake Erie but they disappeared about 50 years ago. Haven't heard of them anywhere else.

What you have there is a northern pike without the color or pattern. They are sometimes born like that, but it's rare. I have seen it before. Sometimes occurs in muskies, but that's a northern pike.
