Anybody fish these lakes for 'skies or 'eyes? I'll be spending a week there in June and was looking for any information someone who's been there could provide. Thanks in advance.

Fun lakes to fish. Catherine is shallow and has some really nice cabbage. It is clear on the outlet side and murky on the inlet side. Fisher has some nice weeds and structure. The standard baits work well. I have not fished it for walleye but I have caught some real dandy largemouths fishing musky and not just one but alot of them.

Thanks for the reply. I gather you spend a lot of time in the area? Do you live "up north" or just a frequent visitor?

I am just a visitor. I am not an expert on the lake but have fished it a few times. I like mercer in general, even the lakes right in town have light pressure.

Yeah, I am used to fishing lakes further south in Vilas county. I love the St. Germain area, but the crowds have become overwhelming. I'm hoping for a more "remote" setting up there. We're staying on Fisher for a week.

Whick resort? I have stayed at island view, the people there are nice and they cook a decent meal too. Tried to check out the other one because it is on flatter ground and my grandfather is in his mid-80's but they never answer their phone or return a phone call.

Actually, we rent private cabins usually. The place we rented this year is called Fernwood Cottage, we rented it through www.northlandlodging.com We got tired of the "resorty" atmosphere about 10 years ago and now we only stay at private cabins. It costs a little bit more, but we find its worth it.
Here's a link to the cabin we're staying at
