Hello I am planning a June trip to Mille Lacs ... Hows the muskie fishing then? Has anyone stayed at the Sunset bay resort (appeldoorns) How is it? Any favorite lure choices? Any other info that would help? Thanks Da Muffin :help: :thanks2: :*

If you have not fished there yet you may want to consider a guide for the first day. Cow Girls have been one of the hot lures but that could change as everyone seems to use them there. I would bring a good variety of top water, Bucktails and Crankbaits. It wouldnt hurt to bring some Bull Dawgs and suzy suckers either. Glides and trolling lures. ha ha ha bring it all!!! You never know what Muskie will eat until they eat it. But a good guide will have his finger on the pulse of the bite. Lee Tauchen is good ,Steve Jonesi as well. I have never been there. I would book a day with Lee if it were me. Kingfisher

I have fished Mille Lacs twice both times in August.First thing is I agree with Kingfisher, hire a guide if you can.Our first time there we fished with a guide for two days and learned alot from him.If you fish on your own get the best lake map you can Mille Lacs is a huge body of water. We did most of our Musky fishing on the south end,mid- lake bars, humps, deeper weed beds.We used large bucktails & jerkbaits during the day, took a break, then went out 2-3 hours before sundown and switched to topwater & shallow running baits.Like I said this was in August so June could be completely different. Good Luck.

Another nod for Steve Jonesi. Fished with him last year, and then will be again this year. Good guy all the way.
