Is it me or deicing agents not work as well as they "usta",..I can remember spraying deicer on my fathers car as a kid and watching /hearing crackling and the ice quickly melting...I'm guessing there was a chemistry change due to side effects, but have you found anything that works? (in washer well) I have tried Prestone premium and something called POWER D-ICER to the washer well and have not been impressed with either,..I'm thinking of using mostly isopropyl alcohol which I believe is the main ingred. of most of them...(I know some use methyl but I'd rather use stuff not so poisonous,..I don't remember if Meth has a great advantage,..
Last Christmas I got my wife one of those remote car starters that can work from her office (a long way) its nice because by the time she walks to the car its warm (or cool) But the long range ones are expensive and even more so w/my manual trans....
I HAVE made some peace with winter by plugging in my car at night (err,..oh yea,..my big garage is filled with other things) So the car stays out at night,..I plug a small room heater to go in the cab one 1/2 hour more or less depending on weather in the morning,..thats nice but you have to be careful not to put anything on it and burn up your car,...but its great to not to have to chip your car out of ice in the AM and by the time you are down the rode and the inside is starting to cool,..heat from the engine is taking over,..I figure its cheaper than running the engine for a while to warm things up,..BTW its not really a heater but a tag sale hair dryer,..the kind people put their whole head in,...a few bucks and it puts out 1200watts of heat and nothing gets hot to the touch,..(I sawed off the head part)So now its just a base with a fountain of hot air comming out,..much like myself.
