I'm looking for a used power tilt/trim for a 70hp johnson 1978. I know they are hard to find but just thought I would try. Thanks, Wile E

If you live in the Twin cities area, or visit, I would maybe check with Twin City outboard. They are based in Shakopee, and have items that for almost any motor. Worth a call at least
Just a thought that might help...

Just a thought, I have seen several outboard motors in automobile salvage yards around the area where I live. Many of the boats have taken destructive totaling hits in auto accidents and the boats are no longer useable but the motor often times appears intact. The last time I checked with one of the salvage yards, they were extremely reasonable in price on an older outboard (50 hp. Merc). The manager of the salvage yard told me that they don't deal in a lot of boats so they are pretty easy to work with on marine equip. Just something to check on or if you have an auto salvage yard in your area. Good luck.

Steve....what I do for a living takes me to several salvage type yards & vehicle auctions throughout Iowa. I see very good deals during the year. There's no real predicting factor on when they're going to have stuff available but a friend of mine two years ago was able to buy a sixteen foot bass-type boat & trlr with a 115 Johnson (all abouit 1989 or so) for $1500. It had been totaled by the ins. co. due to a building fire. The boat was covered by its tarp and was in excellent shape despite soot. My friend scrubbed it up and you couldn't tell the difference. He used it for a year and sold it for 2 X his invest. It had all the equip. and a Stainless prop. He paid a little more than the salvage yard gave the ins. company for it and they were happy to part with it. There wasn't a lot of market for them to mess with boats when they mainly sell autos. The best suggestion is to ask your local salvage yards if they have something available or anticipate to have. Might be worth some phone calls around. Good luck. blazeorg@netins.net

Wile E.....Have info on a motor of your era that you are checking about that's located in Iowa. The ad has a Waverly, Iowa phone number. E-mail me personally if you are interested and I'll pass it along to you. Don't know any details, just found it on another site. Good luck.
