What I did was buy a 12 volt light at Fleet Farm. It has a switch and sells for less than $10.00. I built a small wood box to hold small 12 volt battery.( The type to power locator) Then screwed it to the seat in my fish trap.
I am thinking about mounting another light to a clip to mount on one of the poles and shinne down into the holes.
PS A good source for the 12 volt battery is if you know anyone that works with Unenrupted Power Source (UPS) for computers they have to replace the storage batteries periodically. I get mine from a friend for a 12 pack of adult beverages. Better than $20-30 to buy one.
Has anyone tried running a 12volt light off their vexilar
battery at the same time you are using the vexilar?
Would this be a problem for the electronics?
Thanks.

LED's sound like a great idea, and I'm going to do some checking around to see where to get some to experiment with. They don't use much power, and I'm thinking I can just run them off my Vexilar battery. A friend of mine once made me up a set of lights for a clam out of 3 12 volt taillight sockets and bulbs which he built into a 3 foot chain with some light wire and a pair of alligator clips on the ends. They're cheap and easy, but they draw a lot of juice. You need a seperate battery for them for sure.

I use a tap light "as seen on TV" I put it in the mess pouch and tap it on when needed. It has pretty good lighting.

The best I've found is one of those tent pole style lights. Mine is a Coleman and I bought it at Wal-Mart for under $10.
