I bought a flasher from the swap board, with transom and puck transducer. When I got it, there was only the puck with the flasher. I sent an email, and was told he sold the trans. xducer, but offered me 12.50 refund. He has since told me he sold it for 30.00, but we don't seem to be able to get together on whats fair. He says if he gives me 30, he loses 6 bucks, because of shipping. I feel 30.00 to me is fair, it was kind of my transducer he sold. There was obviously some mis-communication between us, and what happened, happened. What is your opinion as to what is "the right thing to do?"

I think he should belly up and send you $30.

Rickn Tell this guy to cough up your transducer or the 30.00 bucks which ever he prefers. I do not think you could buy a new transducer for 30.00 bucks. Good luck!!! HAPPY HOOKEN!!!!!!!!!!!! Larry
Buying goods online form individuals is a HUGE risk, I have been living this risk as of late and worrying the whole time!
I bought a 6hp Evinrude from a fellow, he took my money order ($486.00) and signed my certified reciept. I emailed him a week later and he finally said he's ship it on Apr 2nd...april 11th rolls around and nothing. I email him again, he said he got called outa town due to work and would give me a tracking # the next day as soon as he put it in UPS. I finally got a tracking number late last night...it was a SCARY SCARY DEAL, but it's on its way finally!
Next I bought a Team Daiwa TD-S103HSD online from an individual for $120.00 brand new and the transaction went smooth as silk.
Another time I bought 4 rod holders from a fellow on this board, I sent him the $$$, he mailed me the holders NOT insured, and they were lost in the mail for like 20 some days! but they DID show up and it was NOT EITHER of our faults, it was our great mail system.
Things I have learned:
ASK ASK ASK make everything perfectly clear 1st!
mail everything certified with a return reciept
insure everything
worry like he@@

I also highly recommend using UPS. I have been able to track numerous transactions, including one, where I was given tracking numbers, but the guy still hadn't shipped it.

I would send the whole thing back and post his name and town of where he lived. This is the only way to deal with shady sellers.A new transducer costs around $45(I think). You are never going to be happy with the deal and who in the world wants a locator with no transducer. If you want to help out the board, post his name after you get all your money back or at the very least the $45 for the new transducer. What kind of locator is it?
