I may be wrong, but............If I remember correctly..I think that is a crankbait, not a a vertical presentation lure.
Somebody will know...for sure.

The best success I've seen and heard with these comes with using a 2" drop line and fishing them like you would a jigging rap.

I've caught a few on them this year through the ice. Their action is really cool. When you rip them up 6 inches or so, they wiggle side to side like a blade bait, and on the fall they wiggle some more and kind of plane off to the side. Tipping them with any meat really inhibits the action, so I've mainly been dousing them with attractant every 20 minutes or so.

I used them for the first time this year and did not have any luck, but then again nothing was working so I can't give an accurrate rating of it. It is a vertical jigger and I fished it similar to a jiggin rap. It is very light for its size so it falls much slower than a rap and flutters from side to side like a butterfly which I thought looked absolutely killer (wish the fish did). I used it on some fairly heavy mono and it was difficult to feel it on the end of my line but I think this heavy line caused it to fall so slow that I stayed with it. I tried the jumbo chubby 2" but the medium or even small size maybe a better option. I'm sure Backwater Eddy can give you some more info on it.

Zeke,

I used the Chubby Darter for the first time the last two nights. Saw nothing on the flasher the first night, so I cought nothing, but last night, I saw them, and cought them.
I found it best not to tip it with anything, because it will mess up the action. What I was doing was lifting it about 2 feet up, and letting it flutter back down. I was lifting it alot softer than I do a rapala, because it tended to tangle around the rear hook if I jerked it to hard. I also use a very thin 6lb test. If its to heavy, you cant really feel the lure.
I was worried at first that because it was so light, I wouldnt be able to feel the fish hit, but they never really tapped it like a rapala, they swallowed it whole. I had to use the pliers to get the hook out of their throats, because it was so deep. This might have been because they happened to be aggressive last night, but it convinced me. I had 2 friends with me that were using rapala's, and never got a hit.
One night doesnt make a lure, there is always some luck involved. Try every ones tips and see what works best for your lake.

The Salmo Chubby Darters are hard to beat in any vertical jigging situation, be it under the ice or under open water.

Try them on the bottom and anywhere from there to the ice itself. They tend to work best higher off the bottom them most vertical jigging presentation would normally be thought to be effective. From a slow lift and fallow down approach to a snap and settle approach they are flexible and effective on a wide variety of game fish. For perch try a 4-6" drop link a bare hook after removing the trebles. The perch react to a schooling action and hit the bait thinking it is a free falling meal there buddy has missed.

If you do tip them with a bait scent keep the offering small and positioned on the rear. This has the least negative effect on the action of the lure. Liquid scent or paste scent options work well too, I prefers Dr. Juice or Yum Brands. Slivers of a power bait tube can be effective and have little negative effect on the lures action. A perch eye where legal is a deadly scent option or a small minnow head. Euro larva, waxes, or magi's may be a option on sluggish fish more interested in a bait them a meal.

Try them at many depths and if you see a fish come in try teasing it up and not dropping it in his face. They will come up 15-20' at times and smack it hard, it is great!

I included Salmo web site if your interested in reading more about the Chubby Darter it's color options, sizes, and how and were to use it.
