Is any one using the perch sweet heart plus ice rods. Looking for a rod for large perch and small walleyes. Have been using there professional graphite model for years. "GREAT ROD". Would it be worth going to a lighter model for big perch or not . "TIGHT LINES" HAMMER

Sure,
I have built most of the models of the Thorne brothers ice rods, both the hollow, as well as the solid graphite rods.

The perch solid graphite rod, is a very "sweet' rod indeed, that works very very very well for perch, as well as most walleye.

Remember, if you happen to get a larger fish on that overloads the rod - simply point the rod straight down the hole, and fight the fish with the reel drag, rather than risk breaking or overloading the rod.

I would certainly encourage this rod, for perch of all sizes. It is an excellent rod.

In the same vein - their solid graphite "dead stick" rod - is a great rod to be using for all sizes of fish - perch to northerns - with live bait - sitting in a rod holder. The softer tip of this dead stick rod, allows you to see the strike in the movement of the tip, without alerting the fish. It also allows you to fish - a dead stick rod or float rod, without a float, which is a pain - to use in the winter, with icing etc.

I am sure that you will enjoy the use of this rod.

It is interesting that you mention this - since I just respooled the line on the reel that I put on this rod, that I am using for a perching trip this weekend in Northern MN.
