Cormorant Hearing tonight

Remember tonights, Monday, January 7, cormorant hearing. It is at the Ramada Inn on Ramada Way in Green Bay. The hearing is at 7:00 pm. Be there if you are concerned about the future of our fishing. The anti fishing and hunting groups will be there, they were the last time. At the last hearing everybody that had anything to say was heard. Here is your chance to get your opinion heard. hi captain; being at the meeting tonite is not an option for me. i am too far away. HOWEVER; just wanted to share this information with you.
we were waiting out a blow day in Algoma on a spring fishing trip. we were on the break water hanging out waiting for the wind to calm down. the cormorants were in the Ahnapee River by the hundreds. we would watch them dive for trout and other fish. the cormorants would dive down and catch fish. there success rate was at least one fish for every three dives. sometimes, they would catch a fish on three consecutive dives. it was so bizzare. they ate so many fish it was incredible. when they would try to fly, they could hardly get off the water they had so many fish in their stomachs.
thanks for trying to do what you can to participate in a creative solution in managing fish and fowl.
cormorants are probably an important part of the ecosystem, but it is clear that the flocks on the great lakes have increased in size by the thousands in the past 25 years that i have fished on Michigan and Lake Superior.
