Being from Canada I fish the SWT but could never do it full time to make a living, what are some of secrets for making it in this business full time. Walleye.50megs.com
I doubt anyone is able to make a living at being a tournament fisherman but some are able to turn their fishing into income buy promoting, advising, etc. Parsons & Kavajecz have consulted with Lowrance, Tracker, Daiwa etc.... and I am sure received compensation for their consulting. I would guess very few are able to earn a living solely buy tournament fishing.

The above post has a lot of merit to it. You can never count on how much money you will win in a tournament season. Everyone has something else they do to help make a living. Pete Harsh is national sales manager for Warrior Boats. Tommy Skarlis has "On Ice Tour's", and other things he does. I am the Operations Supervisor for a colorformer chemical manufacturer. These gentlemen have proven themselves on the tour, and I use them just as examples.
There are a few who probably could afford to only fish tourneys (but I won't mention any names), but they certainly earned their money in the first place. I have to believe sooner or later that Walleye Angling will reach that level, but it takes the help and input from everyone involved in the industry. "Lead, follow, or get out of the way". I am not sure who coined that phrase, but it is something I try to live by. If I am not willing to give the effort to help someone or something succeed then I should'nt hinder their chances of survival by getting in the way either.
I wish all of my fellow PWT competitors well in the 2002 season, and look forward to seeing you in Port Clinton, if not sooner at the Sport Shows!
