FL-8 Interference

Was out on Saturday morning. Turned the Vexilar on and had nothing but interference. After fiddling with the interfernce reduction and gain buttons with no luck, I started searching around for others with a sonar unit. The gent I found was less than 10 yards away and had an identical unit to mine (FL-8 Value pack). When he turned his off, everything cleared. Problem is, he didn't have any interference problems. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have a bad unit? I thought I had known people to use two in the same shack. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Did you turn your IR off?? One guy should have his on, the other off when using in close proximity. Push in the gain button to turn it on/off. Hope this helps!!
