Hey all,
I was contemplating buying a new spinning rod this spring to use for smallmouths and rigging for walleyes, i was thinking about the 6'6" ML spinning rod in Falcon's SILVER series of rods, has anyone ever used them??? What would be some other great buys for 80 -100 bucks

The St Croix Premier series has always left me pleased and is in the same price range. The Avid series is even better but jumps to the 100-120 dollar range.

The Berkley Lightning Rod Signature Series or the Series One should both be well under $100, and are great, durable rods. IMHO, there is no point spending more than what these rods cost unless you're going to a good G.Loomis or St. Croix in the $150+ range. Anything short of this calibre, you will be hard pressed to tell the difference.

The Premier is a good choice. I have both a med. lite Premier and a 3 power Falcon Lowrider. The Premier seems to be more sensitive. Although I like both, I definitely prefer the Premier for walleyes and smallmouth.

You'll also need a Stadic 200 to go with it.

Well, I'll be the first person to actually give you some input on the falcon rods. I have a 7' for trolling and casting cranks and I'm impressed with it's durability, sensitivity and light weight. A high quality rod, definately worth the money. You won't be dissapointed. BTW, I also own a St. Croix Avid for jigging which is also excellent, but I'm not brand loyal.

Cyclone,
If you live in or near Mpls.,Mn Gander Mountain had the Expert Series from Falcon on sale for $75 -normally $150. This is an incredible rod, extremely sensitive, fast tip and great backbone for the smallies. Check them out if you can it's an unbelievable deal.

I have a 6'6"ml falcon silver series and love the ballance and sensitivity of the rod. My son who is much more knowlegable and critical of fishing equiptment than me also likes it.
