Any Michiganders ice fish Kent Lake in Kensington Park??

What species are there, any walleye, hows the perch?

Yes, I am familiar with that body of water. Most of the action comes from near the west boat launch, crappies and perch mostly. There is a fairly deep area there right off the parking lot where lots of people congregate.

There are walleyes in there, too. Mostly along the old river bed, but its hard to find them.

One thing: you cant use a 4 wheeler or snowmobile there, so its a long walk if you really want to scout for walleyes. For panfish, its a nice little spot. Antther thing, the park closes at 10, (or at least it used to) so night fishing is limited for those big crappies who love the night bite!

Yeah the park still closes at 10 which hurts the night crappie bite. Perch run pretty small to the Great lakes. There are larger crappie to be had and in numbers. Walleye are available but are more readily available during open water. They also run on the smaller side.

The only things that I have found run big there is pike - that is the "normal" strain and the "gar" strain.

We fish it almost exclusively for crappie, right at dusk and after dark. Seems to me we've been there well after 10:00 some times without incident. For crappie, target the western shoreline just off the dock area - you'll see the crowds and old holes here. You'll be in about 25 FOW here and the crappie will begin to suspend right at dark - from 5 feet off the bottom all the way up to right under the hole.

Some years ago, I fished pike there also, but not recently. We set tip ups off the western shore of the big island there (name escapes me) in about 13 FOW - it's right across from the crappie spot. There are some MAJOR northerns in this lake - though I believe numbers are down.
