I am preparing a tournament fishing resume to try and obtain sponsors and am wondering what info is usually included? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

The most important thing to get across when trying to get sponsors is "What can you do for me". You need to demonstrate that you can give them a return on their investment. Besides a resume make sure to provide copies of all newspaper clippings or articles you write. Basically this proves that you are legitimate and not just looking for a handout.

Your Goal, your accomplishments to date, list of sponsors to date, and references. That pretty much covers it.

The tricky part is writing a proposal for a sponsorship. A Resume alone is not going to cut it usually.

When you approach a company to sponsor you, have a plan laid out with ideas as to how you're going to help that company in exchange for their money or product. Approach them with original ideas. Bottom line is the company wants to see a return for their help. The more they give you the harder you're going to have to work for them.

Always, and I mean ALWAYS...do what you say you will do. Don't promise something you can't deliver.

Oh, and expect a lot of rejections, but just keep trying...eventually someone says "yes"! ;-)

Just my thoughts, hope it helps.
Good luck!

I would think the things would be looking for are:
1. what kinda exposure you could pull in for there product?
2. how much you would be using there product?
3. does there product fit the water your fishing and the time frame there you,ll be using them?
4. how much are your looking for ( money or just products to fish with )as compaired to what kinda return they will be getting from this.
5. what kinda image would you give there co. while fishing there products?
good luck in your quest and your fishing ! mike/hammertime
